Default Can you work a job during a( NY State) workers comp case?

I am currently waiting for a decision on a workers comp case for a settlement. It is for partial disability so that I cant work manual labor or the same type of work because my injury. My lawyer said that whatever I make from a job can be deducted from the settlement amount. He said whatever I can provide on my own makes this company that much less liable. This job that I might get is a job consisting of sitting all day so there isnt any manual labor. Is this true that I cant work until the comp case is settled or is my lawyer just being extra safe? No, if you actually read what I am writing is that I was hurt on the job and no longer work there. I am going after them because the forced me out by sending me hours away to do light duty when it was obviously not neccassary. I said I can do a job sitting all day because my back is still injured but I am not going to let the company get away from having me be injured on their time and try to get rid of me because I probably cant do physical work again. It has been a year since I lifted stuff and I am still in pain, so learn to read before you are so judgemental. You sound like you work for an insurance or rather my last employer. ------
