Northern Americans spend billions on funerals each year, but the funeral or funeral services do not have to be costly. A funeral could be a straightforward internment or an elaborate affair with music, speakers, customized caskets and refreshments for mourners. Family, non secular or personal preferences are significant, but cost and convenience should be considered as well.
"Many families are forced to make decisions about funerals under stress," announced Michelle L. Corey, BBB President and General Manager. "By training themselves about the process and taking time to raise questions and compare costs, families can avoid overspending. They are likelier to get the kind of service they need, too."
The Fed Trade Commission's Funeral Rule gives consumers a number of rights, including the right to receive written price lists, clarifications of cemetery or legal requirements and the choice of employing a container apart from a box for cremation. Some cemeteries have their own requirements, which must be explained fully before you make a purchase.
